Accessibility Statement

This website is a private, non-commercial project. There is no legal obligation here to make it accessible — neither under the German accessibility regulation for public bodies (BITV 2.0) nor under the Accessibility Strengthening Act (BFSG), which addresses economic operators. This statement is therefore given voluntarily. It nevertheless follows the structure familiar from official statements, because the point is the same: you should know what you can rely on here — and what you cannot.

Scope

This statement applies to the website yiquan.wiki and all its pages, in both the German and the English version.

Conformance status

By the operator's own assessment the website is largely conformant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. “Largely” means: the automated audit reports no violations, and the points that are nevertheless open are named below. It does not mean the site is free of faults.

Standard applied and method of assessment

The site was assessed against WCAG 2.2 level AA — the same yardstick the European standard EN 301 549 builds on. The method:

• Automated with axe-core 4.12 across the rule sets for WCAG 2.0, 2.1 and 2.2 (levels A and AA). Every page of the site was covered, in both the German and the English version, each in the light and the dark design. Result: no violations.
• By hand, because tools cannot see most of it: keyboard-only operation, focus visibility at every stop, zoom to 400 % at a 320 px window width, Windows contrast mode, and spot checks of the browser's accessibility tree.
• By calculation for the colours: every value was checked against every surface it appears on, not merely the most common one. Body text reaches at least 4.5:1, controls and the focus ring at least 3:1.

Limitations of the method: the assessment was carried out by the operator, not by an independent body. There has been no test with people who use a screen reader or another assistive technology day to day. Such tests reliably surface things no checklist covers.

What you can rely on

• The entire site can be operated by keyboard; the focus is visible at every point.
• Under Adjust the display on the start page you can set text size (up to 150 %), contrast, motion and line spacing. Your choice is remembered and applies across the whole site.
• System settings are honoured: reduced motion, increased contrast, Windows contrast mode, and the default text size set in your browser.
• Zooming to 400 % produces no horizontal scrolling.
• The knowledge graph and the lineage tree are additionally available as a complete text list below each graphic — with every node, connection and lineage relation.
• Chinese terms are marked up as Chinese and are therefore read out with a Chinese voice; each has a pronunciation recording. The transliteration beside them is a reading aid for the eye and is deliberately not read aloud.
• Tables have associated column headers and a caption naming their subject.
• The search can be operated with the arrow keys and announces the number of matches.
• The site embeds no third-party content and offers no PDFs or other documents for download.

Known limitations

• The knowledge graph and the lineage tree can only be explored with a mouse (dragging, zooming, hovering over nodes). Their content is available in full as a text list underneath, but the visual exploration itself cannot be done by keyboard.
• The interactive explainer pages (concept analogies) print their state as text, but do not announce a change to the screen reader on their own — you have to move to the text again.
• The Adjust the display panel exists only on the start page. The settings chosen there take effect on every page, but they can only be changed there.
• Within search result snippets, Chinese characters are not marked up as Chinese; in the running text of the pages they are.
• The Chinese language version is prepared technically but has no content yet.

These points are known, not forgotten. They are listed here so that you do not have to stumble over them first.
